	散步时刻画廊散步时刻Champochic于2021年落地线下艺术空间，于2023年从品牌艺术商店土壤中破土而出，长出一家小而壮丽的「轻」画廊。坐标福建厦门，海岛的精神赋予我们包容力与探索未知的渴望。致力于探索当代艺术土壤中的时代共性与个体差异, 我们尤其关注参与跨媒介创作的艺术家个体。散步时刻不停留在“艺术家”这个便签上，而从“人”的角度上去了解创作者，关注那些值得被看到的个体。探索之于人的艺术，让创作介入生活。散步时刻Gallery不是传统意义上的“画廊”机构，我们涉及的是艺术家的全方位运营，为艺术家去构建一份可持续的职业生涯。同时我们重视大众的艺术教育和藏家的收藏体系与管理。藏家、艺术家与机构三者之间，我们旨在“连接“，共同成为在艺术路上共进、共成长的一体。散步时刻Gallery秉持严谨的学术基础，建立独立的审美体系。在推崇一份轻松的收藏态度的基础上，为藏家挖掘潜在的价值，为艺术家寻找伯乐，一同散步去往中国当代艺术的未来。
Champochic GalleryThe Champochic brand began in 2021, establishing its first physical art space in Xiamen. In 2023, Champochic Gallery was born as an attached art gallery representing selected artists from the Champochic artist network. Our vision is to focus on the “individual”, striving to understand and grow artists at the forefront of the Chinese contemporary art scene. Grounded by art principles, we are dedicated to maintaining an independent and free “eye” for the arts. Building emerging artistic paradigms in the present and future of Chinese contemporary art. Based in Xiamen, as an island city, we embrace the new and explore the unknown. Constantly, we seek out the commonality of our era and the individual differences that lie in between. We specifically focus on artists that engage in multi-disciplinary mediums and methods.The Champochic Gallery is not a gallery institute in the traditional sense. We engage with all aspect of the artist career, at the same time focusing on art education of the masses and art consultancy for new art collectors. It is our mission to grow together with our artists and collectors. All in all, we promote a value-based, at the same time fun approach towards collecting art. 散步去艺术商店，为散步时刻Champochic的子品牌，也是线下实体的载体。前身是始于2019年的TheRabbitHole兔子洞工作室，于2021年正式以「散步去Champochic」 为名落地品牌概念商店，是一个兼容艺术审美与生活趣味的复合空间。
我们探索的是个体的洞察力、情绪的输出、特定社会现象或者小众话题里的评论与见解，探索艺术与日常的边界。

《2025 骑楼公社艺博会 Champochic Mini Art Fair》@厦门（2025.12.14 - 2025.12.23)






	
	

为期10个日夜的首届骑楼公社艺博会（Champochic Mini Art Fair）已圆满画上句点。艺博会期间的白日里，我们迎来行内外的多样观众群体。观众们走进位于中山路的老骑楼，打开了通往艺术的一扇“自动门”。

“当代艺术很欠揍！”这个主题和一场艺博会本身是矛盾的。一方面，当代艺术的产业化/市场化是许多艺术圈内的怪象与问题的源头。然而，艺术商业的可持续性又是当下我们散步时刻Champochic觉得不可忽视的议题，于是有了这场“非标”艺博会。

主单元当代艺术家群展承担了一场艺博会所需要的“看头”和销售氛围，而纸本超市（Paper Market）、艺术书桌（Reading Table）、艺术发生（Art In Action）和“雕琢”古代造像藏品展（Sculptured by Time）等平行单元，将大家从当代艺术圈的现状暂时地抽离。我们试图去削弱艺术界话语权的中心化和解开资本的枷锁，将焦点放在艺术价值的分享与传播上。

每天傍晚的6点后，艺博会进入它的下半场。连着10天，位于老骑楼二层的骑楼公社忙碌地举行着一场场Chitchat分享会和工作坊。不同的分享人，有的从策展理论出发，有的从印刷输出的实践进入，也有艺术家将创作的主导权交给了现场的学员和观众，在参与的个体身上唤醒出属于他们自己的创造力。 

整场艺博会从一开始的策划到最后的实践，总算是顺顺利利地完成了对当代艺术的一次“出拳”。虽然，我们也知道或许在现阶段，拳头还不够有力，真正能够促发的影响力也相对有限……万事开头难。然而，在厦门这座已有着自己城市艺博会10年的城市中，随着首届骑楼公社艺博会的落幕，散步时刻Champochic以艺博会发起团队的身份登场，为这座城市埋下新的艺术基因，为2026年打开了更多的可能。

Champochic MAF (Mini Art Fair)

The 10-day Art Fair event has officially concluded. During the daytime of this event, we welcomed a diverse range of audiences from both within and outside the industry. Visitors entered the historic shophouse building on Zhongshan Road, unlocking an' automatic door' to the world of art.

"ART PUNCH!" This statement directly contradicts the very nature of an art fair. While the commercialization of contemporary art fuels many problematic issues within the art industry, yet &#38;nbsp;the sustainability of the art market is a pressing concern that Champochic chooses not to ignore. This is precisely the underlying reasoning for our decision to establish such an unconventional art fair. 

The contemporary artists group exhibition served as the centerpiece for the art fair, while parallel sections like Paper Market, Reading Table, Art In Action, and Sculptured by Time provided an escape from the contemporary art sphere. Our initiative sought to disrupt the art world's centralized discourse power and break free from market constraints, shedding light on the sharing and dissemination of art's intrinsic value. 

Every evening after 6 PM, the art fair enters the “second half”. For ten consecutive days, the Shophouse Commune hosted Chitchat lecture sessions and workshops. Guest speakers range from curatorial theorists to printmaking practitioners. Meanwhile, the workshops provided an avenue for artists to empower the student audience to unleash their creative potential. 

The entire art fair journey—from initial planning to final execution—has successfully delivered its "punch" on contemporary art. Though we recognize that the current momentum may not be strong enough to create significant impact... But as the saying goes, "Once you get started, the most difficult part is out of the way. " In Xiamen, a city with its own decade-long running art fair (like most Chinese city), this first edition of the Champochic Mini Art Fair marks the debut of the Champochic team, dipping its hands into the art fair scene. This event has inserted new energy into the city’s art scene, paving way for new possibilities in 2026.

展言
什么是艺术？这是一个很大的问题。作为策展人也好，画廊主也罢，即便有这样的身份标签，也未必能够很好地去回答这个问题。在最近一次被问到时，我与采访者的答复是：艺术创作是日常里的一种“有氧”， 作品记录了过程，也呈现某种成果。艺术可能是人们面对生命和日常时的一种真诚的状态，在表达一个非常真实的自我。

从这个角度，艺术其实是私密的、是个人的。不是每个人都愿意将最真实的自己展示给别人看。艺术在撑起宏大叙事与人性共鸣的同时，它也来自一个非常私人、非常个体的地方。 

散步时刻Gallery即将在9月底开启一场名为《苹果和眼泪都是湿垃圾》的个人作品展，艺术家少萍的创作脉络和大部分作品便是建立在个体情绪之上的艺术输出。

少萍犹如许多你我这般的城市青年，在上班与生活之间流转，栖息在一座都市心脏之中。很多时候，艺术创作是一种逃离，将自己封闭在一个人的绘画世界里。情绪的泥沼、微观的日常，一个朦胧的画面仿佛在脑海中游走。起初可能是不知在哪听到或是想起的一句话，散不去。然后落到了画面上，又回到脑子里，又回到纸上，反反复复的。 

她的作品散发一种淡淡的表现性，静悄悄的笔触让每个画面有种如梦初醒的触动。走在情绪勾勒出来的一片山丘，夹在山坡与海平线之间，看着一颗不存在的月亮。艺术家的世界被久久地笼罩在一片由油画棒、色粉与彩铅所叙事的幽幽冷色调中。

石头、池塘、公园、一颗被削了皮的苹果，这些或许都是艺术家投射的自己。情绪被倾倒在白纸与画布上，象征物与关系持续被探索。画面中，一切都是交汇的、分离的。作品静候被打开，柔软的笔触等待被阅读。在这里可能找不到宇宙和山水，只有“渺小”的属于艺术家自己的个体叙事。

说回“什么是艺术？”——艺术源于生活，但它究竟源于生活里的什么？大家总觉得艺术源于生活里的美好。然而，我更加相信许多的艺术源于生活里的失落、不满、焦虑等等，各种外部世界泼在你我身上的负面物质。这些干扰着我们生活中的平静与规律，也在我们的脑海里催生各种噪音。波动的情绪与不完美的处境是常态，正因为这样，日常的困境反倒是滋养作品的催化剂。

有人喜欢挑战宏大的哲学叙事，也有人更关注自己的周遭，艺术家终究是一个多元化的群体。少萍运用轻轻的手法去包裹住个体在日常中强劲的呐喊。这种微妙、脆弱、随时可能崩塌的平衡，其实就特别的“艺术”，也是少萍作为艺术家的身上特别的东西。

What is art? This is a profound question. Even with the professional identity of a curator or gallerist,&#38;nbsp;one may still struggle to articulate it effectively. When recently asked this during an phone interview, my response to the interviewer was: Artistic creation serves as&#38;nbsp;a form of daily "aerobic exercise"&#38;nbsp;– an artist’s work often captures this&#38;nbsp;creative process while showcasing tangible outcomes. Taking upon an authentic&#38;nbsp;state&#38;nbsp;of mind in the face of life and everyday experience,&#38;nbsp;genuine expression of&#38;nbsp;the&#38;nbsp;self&#38;nbsp;may be the true essence of art. 
From this perspective, art is largely private and personal. Not everyone is willing to reveal their true selves to others. Thus, while art support grand narratives and human resonance, it also originates from&#38;nbsp;a&#38;nbsp;deeply individual space. 
Opening at the end of September, Champochic Gallery's upcoming solo exhibition 《Whisper》 will showcase&#38;nbsp;artist Shao Ping's creative trajectory and her work, predominately work that represent abstractions of her&#38;nbsp;personal emotional experiences. 
Shao Ping, like many urban youths, navigates between work and life, dwelling in the heart of a city. Often, artistic creation serves as an escape - a solitary retreat into her painting world. The emotional mire and close-up details of daily existence create fleeting visions that drift through her mind. What starts as an unforgettable phrase&#38;nbsp;from somewhere she heard or remembered, might materialize on a canvas, then return to thoughts, then back and forth, endlessly repeating. 
Her works exude a subtle expressiveness, with quiet brushstrokes creating dreamlike awakenings in each composition. Walking along a hill sculpted by emotions, sandwiched between slopes and the horizon, one gazes at a moon that never truly exists. The artist's world remains perpetually shrouded in a hazy, cool-toned narrative crafted with oil pastels, colored pencils, and crayons.
Stones, ponds, parks, and a peeled apple—these might all be projections of the artist's self. Emotions spill onto blank canvases, where symbolic elements and relationships are constantly explored. In some&#38;nbsp;compositions, the elements are in a motion state of&#38;nbsp;convergence, and divergence. Silently to be&#38;nbsp;unveiled,&#38;nbsp;soft brushstrokes awaiting interpretation. Here you won't find cosmic grandeur or mountain vistas—only the artist's personal narrative, small yet profound.
Returning to the question: "What is art?" ——Art originates from life, but what specific aspects of life does it draw from? While many believe art springs from life's beauty, I'm more convinced that much of it stems from life's disappointments, frustrations, anxieties, and the negative forces imposed upon us by the external world. They disrupt our inner peace and daily rhythms,&#38;nbsp;creating&#38;nbsp;mental noise&#38;nbsp;that cloud our consciousness. Fluctuating moods and imperfect circumstances are commonplace—precisely because of this, life's everyday struggles become catalysts for good art.
While some may embrace grand philosophical narratives, others simply focus on their immediate surroundings. Artists ultimately form a diverse community. Shao Ping employs delicate techniques to encapsulate the powerful cries of individuals in the daily life. This subtle and fragile equilibrium&#38;nbsp;that could crumble at any moment embodies an aspect of "art" –&#38;nbsp;also&#38;nbsp;a defining characteristic of Shao Ping's artistic identity.

《宇宙山水 Inner-Verse》｜程曦个人作品展 ---（2025.07.05 - 07.26)

	宋代青原惟信禅师曾对门人说：

“老僧三十年前未参禅时候，见山是山，见水是水。及至后来，亲见知识，有个入处，见山不是山，见水不是水。而今得个休歇处，依前见山只是山，见水只是水。”

世界的本质、宇宙的面貌，自古以来，哲学家们试图给出自己的答案，而艺术家们也为此贡献自己不同的“视角”——从一个艺术家的视角去观看宇宙、去理解世界，从客观到主观，从理性到感性，从具象再到抽象。一切看似互斥的关系，它们通过互补，从而形成一个完整的对于世界的理解。

艺术家程曦的创作，围绕着万物本质的真相而展开。宇宙、黑洞与星辰在淡淡的绿色调下晕散。人、时间和宇宙都在流动，一切都在流动（flow）。线条与色块在画面上，试探彼此的关系，同时也寻着画布的边界。

程曦擅于用一种有着东方性、介于抽象与具象之间的绘画语言来表述自己对于世界的观察。她的一幅幅作品，邀请观众一起进入，完成一次或者几次的“穿行”。我们如何去看，该注视哪里，她在线条与笔触之间小心翼翼地藏着线索。不喧哗、不强迫的视觉表达，特别符合当代女性艺术家的特征。

东方性或者说东方主义绘画又是什么？

它应该是被文化传承下来的，是东方文化里，东方人骨子里的东西。不见得是老师或者贤者有意识的教诲与传播，更多是历历代代的人，有意无意间所建立与维护的精神向往，或者我们上述的精神空间或者宇宙。从出生以来，就浸泡在这样的“宇宙”里的我们，这些韵味、质感和思维，它们已经烙印在你我的身心。

传统也好，哲学也罢，这份东西是艺术创作中重要的养分。它在我们认识世界的轮廓里，在我们审美的内核之中。它左右着我们的思想与判断，也影响着我们的“流动”。然而如何去运用和提炼它却是艺术家们一生的功课。

此次在散步时刻Gallery所展出的《宇宙山水》艺术家程曦的个人作品展，为我们从这样的一个角度去打开艺术，展出的作品呈现在多种不同的媒介上，同时分路成不同的系列。像做实验一样，各个有自己的主张、实验过程与初步结论。 艺术家的心性一览无余：一位好奇心强，却又克制的创作者。

程曦的笔触与思绪，试图打破空间与纸张的束缚，同时在理性与感性之间纠缠。作品中，理性如爱因斯坦的广义相对论公式，感性如一缕不知去往何处的绿彩笔画。淡淡的色彩、浓浓的表现性，程曦在中国水墨的散点透视与西方单点透视之间来回跳舞，耐心地堆砌属于自己的创作语言与绘画系统。她的作品像是地图，也像解剖图，将外在与内在的宇宙进行一次次解构又重组。透过一张张不同的作品，艺术家试图引用抽象的视觉，建立起与每一个观者独一无二的对白。

此次个展，画廊空间的一隅以文人书房的形式呈现，这是我们与艺术家共同讨论的设计。希望能通过这样的一个呈现形式，去重现中国古代文人将自己的创作打开成一个空间的精神追求。

《Inner-Verse》Cheng Xi Solo Exhibition

A Zen master of the Song Dynasty once said to his disciples:

"Thirty years ago, before I began practising Zen Buddhism, I saw mountains as mountains and waters as waters. Later, as I reached more insight and truth, mountains were no longer just mountains, and waters no longer just waters. Now as my life comes to a resting pace and peace, in front of me, mountains are once more mountains and waters are waters." 
(Volume 28 of "指月录")

Since ancient times, philosophers have tried to give their own answers to the essence of the world and the appearance of the universe, artists likewise have contributed their own perspective. Viewing the universe from the artist perspective, shifting from the objective to subjective, from rationality to sensibility, from figurative to abstraction.&#38;nbsp;These seemingly mutually exclusive relationships, combine and complement each other to form our complete understanding of the world.

Artist Cheng Xi’s work revolves around the seeking of truth about the essence of all things. The universe, black holes and stars dissipate under a faint green tone. The universe, time and people are flowing, everything is flowing. Her lines and colours, entangle among themselves, forming relationships, and together they venture to the outer borders of the canvas.

Cheng Xi expresses her observation of the world through a painting language embedded with East Asian roots. Somewhere between the abstract and figurative brush, she invites the audience to enter together and complete one or several "dives" into her work. She carefully hides clues in between the lines and brushstrokes. Quiet and unforced, her artistic expressions are particularly in line with the characteristics of contemporary female artists.

Passing down through culture, en-grained in a specific cultural mindset of a particular group of people. Not necessarily through the conscious teaching and dissemination of teachers or sages, but more of a spiritual yearning established and maintained by people from generation to generation. It is the immersion of this space and “universe”, contemporary East Asian painters are somewhat guided by certain inner concepts, yearning and ideas, reflected in the texture and flow of their work.

Whether it is traditional rituals or philosophical thoughts, this “thing” holds a significant role in artist’s creative process. The contours of artist’s understanding of the world and the core of her aesthetics, they influence her choices and her “flow”. Nevertheless, how such a cultural endowment is applied and refined, this is a lifelong learning curve for the artist.

On this occasion, Champochic Gallery will show the 《Inner-Verse》Cheng Xi Solo Exhibition, seeking to open dialogue within this spectrum. The artist’s work is presented through differing mediums, and divided into several distinctive series. Methodologically, she seeks to test her hypotheses, reaching preliminary conclusions and artistic results. Cheng Xi is an artist with strong curiosity yet self-restraining at the same time.

Her thought and brushstroke challenges the constraints that holds together space and paper, while she entangles between reason and sensibility. In her work, reason is like a line of Einstein's general theory of relativity jotted along coloured shapes, while sensibility is a wisp of green brush strokes that is perhaps heading to nowhere. Fainted colours and strong expressiveness, Cheng Xi dances back and forth between the scattered perspective of Chinese ink and single-point perspective of Western painting schools, patiently building her own creative language and painting system. These works of abstract are like maps and anatomical diagrams, deconstructing and reorganizing the outer and inner universes again and again, seeking to establish an unique dialogue with the viewer.

In this solo exhibition, a corner of the gallery space is presented in the form of a literati study, which is a design we discussed with the artist. We hope that through such a presentation form, the spiritual pursuit of ancient Chinese literati to open up their artistic findings and creations into a “space” can be reproduced.

The《Inner-Verse》Cheng Xi Solo Exhibition will open on July 5, 2025 at the Champochic Gallery. We sincerely welcome everyone to come along, and dive in.

“一只乌龟如果冬天不睡觉……”

在2024年的冬天，创作者洮本圆想为自己养的阿龟，一只活了二十几岁寿终正寝的巴西龟，写一个故事。在她的脑海里冒出了这样的开头，但开了头之后，她便卡住了。彼时她同时也在找工作，在持续奔波里她的状态也开始浮浮沉沉。

这不是她第一次创作故事。


洮本圆在法国学了3年插画。在上学期间接触到了独立漫画志《叙事癖》，她很喜欢烟囱的漫画。在2014年，《叙事癖》发布5周年纪念的主题征稿时，她尝试画了小漫画《不穿衣服就不要开窗户》，没想到入选做了刊登，这给了当时的她很大鼓励。

“原来我也可以画漫画！”

不仅如此，洮本圆还发现原来自己更喜欢这样的创作形式，不只是像自己所学的专业——是辅助于别人的文字或主题的配图插画，而完全是由自己的想法延伸出来的画面与故事。

毕业之际，洮本圆去到了香蕉鱼书店，在那里她接触了艺术书、zine这样的形式。也在此期间，她做了自己的第一本纸本作品《OLD MAN AND PIGEON》。从创作想法到绘制故事，从纸本设计到选纸装帧，最后再一本本地手工制作，她正式开启了自己的“一个人生产线”。随着国内艺术书展的兴起，洮本圆也得以带着她的手作书与陌生人分享。

一边上班，一边继续创作，在洮本圆看来并不难，两者彼此独立，互不干扰，就像两个身份。“创作的时候，如果画不下去了就先不画，也不会觉得愧疚；工作的时候，如果觉得影响了创作，那就为创作让路，并没有太多的纠结 。”洮本圆笑说，但是要比较的话，创作是比上班难多了。

“也许是我没有那么擅长创作。”

她的故事都是在她的探索中慢慢完成。没有固定的创作流程或手法，创作的起点也不一，有时是从一个想法、一句话，有时是从一张纸开始。比如这次的新作品《 One Tortoise Year》中，一直想为阿龟画故事的她刚好碰上了一种名叫“江户小染”的日本特种纸，“它的凸版花纹很特别，像一只只小乌龟”，仿佛命中注定般，让她的故事得以“落地”。

创作的灵感在刻意去找的时候反倒是找不到的，卡住的情况也不是偶发。洮本圆习惯于把一些日常的观察都记录下来，随手翻阅，而且她特别喜欢观察小动物。在她看来，动物与人是在一起的，并没有那么大的分别。也因此，在她以“APOORZOO”为名的故事动物园里，动物与人类自然而然就在一起的，边界模糊，那些感性的句子和想法，有时也从动物的话语或者思绪里传递。

“每次做作品的时候，我都没有明确的主旨，也不想要有。”洮本圆自觉她的故事不是那么好读，“要说什么，又好像没说什么”，画面直白，但寓意模糊。她觉得把话说太明白有点太傻，说太多又仿佛说教，便只是“淡淡地”。

“因为我也只是在分享我的一些生活感受，想画普通人的故事，并没有那么大起大落的人生真谛。”但在这之中她也有一个坚持，那就是有一些想说的话是一定要出现的。一些她潜意识的寓意被包裹在故事中。

“希望好的事情发生”是这个新故事里的一句话。而这次的展览名字，是我们一起从作品中选取的开头：“一只乌龟如果冬天不睡觉”，它的下一句是——“就可以做任何事”。希望以此去传递不说过多但又坚持表达的感受。

这次展览是阿龟故事与大家的第一次线下见面，也是洮本圆作为创作者的首次个人作品展。大家不仅可以看到洮本圆全新创作的故事《One Tortoise Year》完整手稿，还有早期创作的《À la sieste》水彩作品原稿，以及翻阅16本由她亲手制作的艺术书作品，一览作为创作者的她是怎么从一个画面到一个故事，一瞥她的创作方式与灵感，来感受散步时刻Gallery一直执着呈现的个体创作。

“If a turtle choose not to sleep in winter……”

In the winter of 2024, creator Tao Benyuan wanted to write a story about her Brazilian turtle, which she had raised for a long time. It had lived a long life, over twenty years in fact, until its death. The beginning of a story came to mind, but after a while, she got stuck. At that time, she was also looking for a job. Overall, life was a bit of a mess and as a result, so was her state of creativity.

This is not her first time writing a story.

Tao studied illustration at a school in France for 3 years. During her school years, she came into contact with the independent comic magazine 叙事癖&#38;nbsp;and she really enjoyed the comics by Chinese comic artist 烟囱. In 2014, during an open call for submissions, on the anniversary of the release of&#38;nbsp;叙事癖, she attempted to draw her own short comic work and was unexpectedly selected for publication, this gave her great encouragement at the time.

To her own realization,“So, I can also create comics！”

Not only that, Tao Benyuan also realized that this may be her preferred form of creation. Rather than illustrations that were supplementary to other people's texts or themes, as she was trained, instead she can now create complete stories and images derived from her own ideas.

Right before graduation, Tao interned at the Banana Fish Bookstore, there she was exposed to forms such as artist books and zines. During this period, she made her first zine, “OLD MAN AND PIGEON”. From an idea to a story, from visual design to paper selection and binding, and finally assembled together by her own two hands.&#38;nbsp;Tao officially launched her "one person production line". With the rise of domestic art book fairs, She was able to share her newly handmade books with complete strangers at these fairs.

Having a job while continuing to create isn’t difficult in Tao’s view. For her, these are two independent spheres, not interfering with each other, sort of like two identities. “When creating, if I hit a wall and can’t continue drawing, I don’t have to feel guilty about it. And when working, if I feel that work is affecting my creativity, then I will make way for creativity, and not worry too much!” Tao smiled and said: “However, when I compare the two, creating is much harder than going to work.”

“Or maybe, I'm just not a good enough creator.”

Tao completes her stories through a gradual process of exploration. There isn’t a fixed creative procedure or technique, and the starting point of each creation/work is also often different. Sometimes it starts from an idea or a sentence, and sometimes it starts from a piece of paper. For example, in her new work "One Tortoise Year”, Tao had always wanted to draw a story for her deceased turtle A Gui. She happened to come across a special type of Japanese paper called 江户小染. “Its embossed pattern is very special, they look like small turtles," it’s as if destined that she would make her story come to fruition using this special paper.

The inspiration for creation cannot be found when one is deliberately searching, and the situation of getting stuck is not exactly incidental. Tao is accustomed to recording down and flipping through her daily observations, and she particularly enjoys observing small animals. In her opinion, animals and humans are all together in this world we live in and there is not such a big difference between us and them. Therefore, in her “story zoo” named APOORZOO, animals and humans naturally coexist, with blurred boundaries. Emotional sentences and ideas are frequently conveyed through the words or thoughts of animals.

“Every time I begin to create a story, I don't have a clear theme and I don't want to have one." Tao feels that her stories are not easy to read. “Saying something but as though saying nothing at all”. She likes her visual creations to be straightforward, meanwhile keeping the meaning of the stories vague or perhaps open-ended. She feels that speaking too clearly can be a bit foolish, and speaking too much seemed like preaching. So stories just have to be "subtle" in their own way.

“Because I am only sharing some of my personal life experiences and drawing up stories of ordinary people, not so much in search of life’s big ups and downs or the true meaning behind it. “ However, she does have some insistence when it comes down to things she wants to express, they must appear in her story one way or another. There is quite some of her own subconscious meanings wrapped into her stories.

“To hope for good things to happen", this is a phrase in the new story. And the name of this exhibition originate from the opening sentence of the story : “If a turtle choose not to sleep in winter”, the following line is then “it can do anything”. This is perhaps a key message in which this exhibition would like to express, but to do so in a quiet manner is somewhat necessary.

This exhibition will be the first time A Gui's story come face to face with the audience offline, and it’s also the first personal exhibition of Tao Benyuan's work as a creator, here in Xiamen. On this occasion, you will be able to observe the complete manuscript of Tao’s newly created story "One Tortoise Year", as well as some of her earlier&#38;nbsp;original watercolor pieces from the series："A la sieste". Furthermore, during this exhibition, the audience will have the opportunity to browse through&#38;nbsp;16 artist books&#38;nbsp;all created personally by Tao. To see how she went from a painting to a story as a creator, to catch a glimpse of her creative style and what inspires her work, and to feel the type of&#38;nbsp;individual creativity&#38;nbsp;that the Champochic Gallery is persistently dedicated to presenting and sharing with our audience.
